Step-by-Step Guide

How to Create a Social Media Post

From blank canvas to exported image in under 5 minutes — here is exactly how every part of the editor works.

  1. 1

    Choose a canvas size

Click the canvas-size button in the top bar. Pick from 15+ presets — Instagram Post, YouTube Thumbnail, Instagram Story, Facebook Cover, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Pinterest Pin, and more — or type a custom width × height.

  2. 2

    Set a background

Open the Background tab (paint bucket icon) in the left sidebar. Choose a solid color, apply a gradient with two custom colors, or drag-and-drop a photo directly onto the canvas as the background.

  3. 3

    Add text

Click the Text tab (T icon). Pick Heading, Subheading, or Body style, then click the canvas. Edit the text and use the right panel to change font family (including Hindi/Devanagari), size, weight, color, alignment, letter-spacing, and line-height.

  4. 4

    Add shapes and images

The Shapes tab lets you insert rectangles, circles, triangles, lines, and stars. Upload images via the Images tab or drag-and-drop files straight onto the canvas — they land centered and ready to resize.

  5. 5

    Apply filters and effects

Select any object and expand the Filters panel on the right. Stack multiple blur types (Gaussian, Motion, Lens, Radial, Surface), adjust brightness/contrast/saturation, or apply creative effects like cartoon, sketch, neon glow, or emboss — all on a single object simultaneously.

  6. 6

    Manage layers

Open the Layers panel (stacked-squares icon) to see every element. Drag rows to reorder, click the eye icon to show/hide, or the lock icon to prevent accidental edits. Use Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y to undo and redo any change.

  7. 7

    Save your project

Hit 💾 Save to download a .json project file. Click 📂 Open to reload it any time — all layers, fonts, positions, and effects are fully restored. Your designs never leave your browser.

  8. 8

    Export your design

Click ⬇ PNG for a lossless, full-resolution image (best for graphics with text). Click ⬇ JPG for a smaller file at 92% quality (ideal for photos). No watermark. Free users get 1 export; Pro users get unlimited.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Social Media Creator completely free?

Yes. The editor and all its features are free to use. Guest and free-plan users can export 1 design. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited exports — no watermark on either plan.

Do I need to create an account to use it?

No sign-up is required to open the editor and design freely. You only need an account to download your design (1 free export for free accounts, unlimited for Pro).

What canvas sizes and platforms are supported?

The editor ships with 15+ presets: Instagram Post (1080×1080), Instagram Story (1080×1920), Facebook Post (1200×630), Facebook Cover (820×312), LinkedIn Post (1200×627), Twitter/X Post (1200×675), Pinterest Pin (1000×1500), YouTube Thumbnail (1280×720), Blog Thumbnail, Website Banner (1920×1080), and Ad Banner (728×90). You can also enter any custom width and height.

Can I upload my own photos and logos?

Yes. Click the Images tab in the left sidebar or drag-and-drop image files directly onto the canvas. Supported formats include PNG, JPG, WebP, and GIF. Uploaded images are placed centered on the canvas and can be resized, rotated, and filtered.

What image filters and effects are available?

Every object supports: five blur types (Gaussian, Motion, Lens, Radial, Surface), color adjustments (brightness, contrast, saturation, hue rotation, grayscale, sepia, invert, sharpen, noise), and six creative effects (cartoon, sketch, edge detection, neon glow, oil paint, emboss 3D). Multiple effects stack on a single object.

Is there a watermark on the exported image?

No. Exports are always watermark-free for both free and Pro users. The only difference is the number of downloads allowed — 1 for free, unlimited for Pro.

Can I save my design and continue later?

Yes. Click the 💾 Save button to download a .json project file. Reopen it any time by clicking 📂 Open. Your entire canvas — layers, fonts, effects, and positions — is fully restored.

What is the difference between PNG and JPG export?

PNG is lossless and supports transparency — best for logos, graphics with text, and designs with transparent elements. JPG compresses the image (at 92% quality) for a smaller file size — ideal for photos and when file size matters for web upload.

Does the editor work on mobile and tablet?

The editor is designed for desktop and laptop screens where a mouse or stylus offers precise control. On tablet with a stylus it works reasonably well. Mobile phone screens are too small for a comfortable canvas editing experience.

How is this different from Canva?

Our editor runs entirely in your browser with no account wall for basic use. It focuses on performance and privacy — no assets are uploaded to any server. It includes advanced CSS/SVG filter effects (blur stacking, noise, sketch, neon glow) that are not available in most free design tools.
