What is an ATS and why does it reject resumes automatically?

An Applicant Tracking System is software companies use to store and filter incoming resumes before a recruiter reads them. It parses your file into structured fields (name, job titles, dates, skills) and often ranks or filters candidates by keyword match against the job posting. A resume with an unusual layout, missing standard section headings, or low keyword overlap with the posting can be filtered out or ranked poorly without a human ever seeing it.

How does the AI actually score my resume?

Your extracted resume text is sent to a language model that has been prompted to evaluate it the way ATS software and recruiters do — checking for standard section structure, quantified achievements versus vague duties, keyword overlap with the target role, and known parsing hazards like tables or text boxes. It returns a structured score per section plus a prioritized issue list, not just a single number.

What exactly does "Implement All Improvements" change?

It sends your current resume content along with every flagged suggestion back to the AI in one request, and the AI rewrites each section — strengthening action verbs, adding quantification where you have provided numbers, and working in missing keywords where they genuinely fit. It loads the rewritten result into the editor for you to review, not to submit unread.

Can I tailor the resume to one specific job posting?

Yes. Paste the job description alongside your resume for a keyword gap analysis against that specific posting, or use "Build from JD" mode to generate a full resume draft matched to that posting's language if you are starting without an existing file.

Are the ATS score and keyword suggestions guaranteed to get me an interview?

No tool can guarantee that — hiring decisions depend on your actual qualifications, the specific employer's ATS configuration, and how many other applicants there are. What this tool does reliably is remove the structural and keyword-matching problems that cause qualified candidates to be filtered out before anyone reviews their experience.

Will the AI make up experience or numbers I did not provide?

It works from the content you supply and rewrites phrasing, verb choice, and structure — it should not invent job titles or companies. However, always read every rewritten line carefully before submitting; treat AI-generated numbers and claims as drafts to verify against your actual record, not facts to trust blindly.

Are the ten templates actually ATS-compatible, not just visually clean?

They use single-column or simple two-column layouts with standard headings like "Experience" and "Education", avoid nested tables, text boxes, and images inside the content area — all of which are documented causes of ATS parsing failures. Visual polish and ATS-parseability are treated as separate requirements, not traded off against each other.

Is my resume content stored after I use the tool?

Resume text is sent to the AI provider to generate the analysis or rewrite for that session and is not retained on our servers afterward. The AI provider you are routed through (Groq, Google, Mistral, or Cohere depending on availability) may log requests according to its own data policy.

Do I need to sign in to use this tool?

Yes — resume analysis and generation are AI-metered features gated to signed-in accounts, with a daily usage limit on the free tier and a higher limit on Pro. This keeps the AI compute costs sustainable for a free tool.

What file formats can I upload?

PDF and Word (.doc/.docx) files with selectable text. Scanned resumes saved as images inside a PDF will not extract properly — convert them to text first, or re-create the resume by typing content directly into the "Build from JD" mode.

What is AI Resume Builder & Analyzer?

This tool does two distinct jobs: it scores an existing resume the way an Applicant Tracking System would, and it can build a new one from a job description when you do not have a usable draft yet. Most job seekers never see the rejection reason — an ATS silently filters out resumes with the wrong formatting, missing keywords, or unparseable sections before a human ever opens the file. Uploading your resume here surfaces that same filtering logic: a section-by-section score for Contact, Summary, Experience, Skills, and Education, a list of the specific keywords the target role expects that your resume does not contain, and formatting issues (text boxes, tables, graphics in the content area) that are known to break ATS parsers.

The "Build from JD" mode works the other direction — paste a job posting and your basic career details, and the AI drafts a complete resume that mirrors the language and requirements of that specific posting rather than a generic template filled with placeholder text. Both paths end in the same place: a resume rendered in one of ten ATS-safe templates, editable inline, exportable as a PDF.

It is worth being upfront about what AI resume tools are good at and where they fall short. They are reliable for catching structural ATS problems, surfacing keyword gaps against a job description, and rewriting weak bullet points into results-oriented, quantified language. They are less reliable at judging whether your actual experience is strong enough for a role, or whether a claim it generates is factually accurate — that verification is still on you. Treat the AI output as a strong first draft to edit, not a finished resume to submit unread.

If a job portal enforces a file size limit on your exported resume, Compress PDF shrinks it without touching the layout.

How It Works

Your resume text is extracted locally in the browser when you upload a PDF or Word file, then sent through an AI fallback chain (Groq Llama 3, then Gemini Flash, then Mistral, then Cohere, depending on availability) for analysis. The model returns structured scoring data — not free-form prose — covering section-by-section grades, a missing-keyword list compared against the job description or general role expectations, specific ATS-compatibility issues, and prioritized improvement suggestions ordered by impact. Clicking "Implement All" sends your current resume plus every suggestion back to the AI in a single request, which rewrites each section with stronger action verbs and quantified outcomes rather than making you apply fixes one at a time. The finished resume renders in your selected template and exports to PDF using html2canvas, which captures the rendered layout exactly as shown on screen rather than regenerating it from a separate print engine.

How to Use

Choose a starting template

Pick from ten ATS-approved layouts — single-column and simple two-column designs with standard section headings. You can switch templates later without losing any of your entered data.

Upload an existing resume, or start from a job description

Drop a PDF or Word file to extract and analyze what you already have, or switch to "Build from JD" mode, paste the posting, and fill in your work history so the AI can draft a matching resume from scratch.

Run the ATS analysis

Click "Analyze Resume". Within seconds you get section scores, a ranked list of ATS-breaking issues, and the specific keywords from the job description that your resume is currently missing.

Review suggestions individually, or implement them all at once

Read through the flagged issues to understand what is weak and why, then either fix bullet points yourself with that context or click "Implement All" to let the AI rewrite every section in one pass.

Proofread the AI-rewritten content

Check every generated bullet point and number against your actual work history. AI rewrites are drafts meant to sharpen phrasing and keyword coverage — they are not a substitute for verifying accuracy before you submit anything.

Download the finished PDF

Once the content and template both look right, export to PDF. The exported file matches exactly what is shown in the on-screen preview.

Why Choose This Tool

Section-by-Section ATS Scoring

Rather than a single vague score, you get separate grades for Contact, Summary, Experience, Skills, and Education, so you know exactly which section is holding the resume back.

Keyword Gap Analysis Against Real Job Text

Paste an actual job description and the analyzer compares your resume's language against it directly, rather than against a generic industry keyword list that may not match this specific role.

One-Click Rewrite for Every Section

"Implement All" applies every suggested fix in a single AI call instead of forcing you to accept or edit each bullet point one at a time.

Ten ATS-Safe Templates

Every template avoids the known ATS failure points — text boxes, multi-column tables, images inside the content area — while still looking distinct from a plain default resume.

Build From a Job Description When You Have Nothing

If you do not have an existing resume to start from, paste the posting and your basic history and get a full draft tailored to that role's language.

No Data Retained After Analysis

Resume text is sent to the AI provider for the single analysis request and is not stored on our servers afterward.
