What is AI background removal?
AI background removal is the process of automatically detecting and erasing the background pixels of an image while preserving the subject — a person, product, animal, or object. Traditionally this required manual selection tools in Photoshop, which is time-consuming and requires design skills. Modern AI models trained on millions of labeled images can detect subject boundaries in milliseconds.
Our tool uses a locally-run AI model compiled to WebAssembly and cached in your browser. The model analyses pixel patterns, detects edges, and generates an alpha mask — a layer that defines which pixels are transparent.
